It's National Apple Day! To celebrate, we wanted to share a simple and delicious applesauce recipe created by our Registered Dietitian Team with you all.

Apples are an excellent souce of fiber and a relatively decentsource of Vitamin C and antioxidants.Eating apples can improveyour digestion and gut health as well as your overall health! 

Ingredients:

2 medium apples (with skin for extrafiber)

½ cup water

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 

Directions: 

Cut each apple into fourths. 

Remove the core fromeach piece. 

Then, cut apple into 1/2-inch chunks.

Turn on stove to medium-low heat.Add apple chunks to a sauce pan.

Then, add in water, lemon juice, and cinnamon.

Stir together to combine.

Cover the pan with a lid. 

Stir occasionally. 

And cook for 15-20 minutes or until the apples are soft.

Remove from heat. 

Use a fork or potato masher tomash the apples to the texture that you enjoy.

Blender can also be used for a smoother puree
