Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi's Visit To Project Open Hand.
On Wednesday, April 15, 2009, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi toured Project Open Hand and held a press conference highlighting the Ryan White stop-loss HIV funds for San Francisco. The omnibus appropriations bill signed into law last month by President Obama included a provision that will prevent drastic cuts in Ryan White HIV/AIDS care and treatment funds, restoring nearly $7 million in funding for San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo Counties. For Project Open Hand, that “stop-loss” funding supports 26,775 meals for hundreds of people living with HIV/AIDS in San Francisco. It was truly an exciting experience hosting Speaker Pelosi.

A tour of the Project Open Hand Facility included a tour of the Solar Panels. The system includes Photovoltaic panels for electrical energy production and Solar Thermal panels for heating water. |
